The source of this encounter originates from Triptych, a choreographic research project developed between Italy and Canada (Montr\u00e9al, Vancouver) that is testimony to the collaboration between these two artists and the convergence of their respective creative universes. Second \u2013 a journey, an itinerant visit through the historical center of Vancouver. A rain forest is slowly displaced by the city, and an old, abandoned gas station which is converted into a park.<\/p>\n<p>From its very inception<em> When We Were Old<\/em> has something international, not only for the way in which it was produced but also for the imagery that it substantiates and upholds: two persons cross landscapes constrained to a cyclical process of construction and deconstruction. And how does the primitive and organic material dialogue with the urban setting? When does the new take the place of the old? The landscape is altered by metallic and wooden materials and the bodies of Chiara Frigo and Emmanuel Jouthe, engaged in a dance which is both flowing and sharp. A muffled backdrop of music and lights with echoes of a cultural and natural past, either collapsed or simply buried under old white linoleum is ready to surface once more.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>CHIARA FRIGO<\/p>\n<p>Maker and perfomer Chiara Frigo develops her work in the field of contemporary dance and performing arts. Graduated in molecular biology, in 2006 her first creation <em>Corpo in DoppiaElica<\/em> won the third prize at the 10th Festival Choreographers Miniatures in Belgrade. Her solo <em>Takeya<\/em> is awarded with the first prize at GD\u2019A Veneto Anticorpi XL and is selected in the dance network Aerowaves. <em>Takeya<\/em> is presented in more than 50 cities.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2009 she is invited to several Choreographic projects in Europe and Canada. Her creation <em>Suite\u2013Hope<\/em>, supported by La Caldera Barcelona, is selected in Aerowaves 2012 and is one of the five works chosen for the Italian Dance Platform in Edinburgh. Chiara Frigo is now engaged in <em>Ballroom<\/em>, a creation for young performers, and <em>West End,<\/em> that will be presented in November at RomaEuropa Festival.<\/p>\n<p>EMMANUEL JOUTHE<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel Jouthe cofounded Carpe Diem Dance Company and is noticed as choreographer\/dancer. His unique movement signature involving brisk energy and dramatic intensity is quickly noticed by national and international producers, bringing him to multiple collaborations. In the past ten years, he added more than fifteen pieces to his repertoire. Through his different creations, he questions temporality, intimacy and movement. His interests are mostly based on his perception of the dancing body, his feelings, the emotions related to these feelings, the human self. With these perspectives he creates pieces combining captured moments of beauty, space, drama and time.
